We're proud to have been part of Townsville's arts and culture scene for over 50 years!
Our aim is to promote live theatre in North Queensland, and to provide members with the opportunity for recreation and artistic expression. At the heart of Townsville Little Theatre is our friendly community culture and passion for amateur theatre. Explore our commitments and rich history below!
A Full and Varied Programme
Each year the artistic committee reviews a number of play scripts and produces a planned programme and invites producers and directors to take up the challenge of putting on the selected plays.
Four Major Productions
We aim for four major productions each year, together with one or two entries into the North Queensland Festival of One Act Plays and our own Short Season of Short Plays.
Commitment to Theatre
We like to do the things that challenge us and those around us for the betterment of amateur theatre. We pride ourselves on the professional standard of our work. Townsville Little Theatre productions have been a starting point for many young people interested in a career in the arts.
Community Engagement
As a community theatre group, we have a commitment to encourage our members to become involved in all levels of theatre - whether it be directing, acting, set design, lighting/sound, and not to forget the front of house crew. We also organise workshops for members and non-members alike!
TOWNSVILLE LITTLE THEATRE ACKNOWLEDGES THE WULGURUKABA OF GURAMBILBARRA AND YUNBENUN, BINDAL, GUGU BADHAN AND NYWAIGI AS THE TRADITIONAL OWNERS OF THE LAND ON WHICH WE LIVE, CREATE AND PERFORM. WE PAY OUR RESPECTS TO THEIR CULTURES, THEIR ANCESTORS AND THEIR ELDERS, PAST, PRESENT AND EMERGING.
