2023 Workshop Series



Writing a full-length play is quite the undertaking. As intimidating as it can feel for beginners, experienced writers can equally struggle to construct a play that grips the audience from start to finish and gets a message across. Pete Malicki shares 20 years of playwriting experience with this deep dive into planning, researching, structuring, writing, and fine-tuning a play that will entertain audiences and have them talking about your idea for days afterwards.

Learning outcomes

a) Understand the key elements of a play: formatting, structure, story, character, dialogue,

theatricality, comedy/drama

b) Know how to plan your play, research appropriately and be ready to execute the work

c) Use grammatically accurate and compelling language in your writing

d) Have a toolkit of tricks and techniques to craft a compelling story and achieve your play’s


e) Understand how to refine your play and get it produced in the real world
